The one without ‘everything period’
For some people getting periods is as standard as needing to pee. You don’t get mood swings, cramps or even headaches. Sometimes getting periods is just getting periods. One needs to understand that yes, many are affected with discomforts like cramps, headaches, and emotional changes, but 10% of the menstruators experience nothing more than they would on any other week of the month.
For me getting my period means nothing more than slight discomfort in my underpants. My mood doesn’t change, nor do I get stomach aches. All I do get is a discharge of blood. For me, the worst-case scenario would be getting back pains in the days before my period date – that’s it! Being on my period would mean needing to wear pads, and keeping myself clean, but there would be no further irritation.
The purpose of me sharing the normalcy of my periods is not to make the others out to be worse than usual, but to show that getting your period is different for every individual. I may experience absolutely nothing; someone else may need medication to activate their ovaries while others may get their period more regularly than others. Getting your period is as natural as the rising of the sun. All you need to make sure of is keeping track of your period activity and having a gynaecologist to contact, in case of any irregularities in your cycle. All I have to say is, know your body and what is normal for you.
